Cochrane Systematic Reviews
Tier: Authoritative (non-profit)
What it is
Cochrane is an international non-profit that produces the most rigorous systematic reviews in medicine, using the GRADE framework to grade certainty of evidence.
Why we trust it
Reviews are prospectively registered, peer-reviewed, and updated. Cochrane's methodology sets the global gold standard for evidence synthesis.
What we use it for
Evidence synthesis for high-stakes interactions (warfarin + K2, serotonin risk). We defer to Cochrane when it has spoken on a given question.
How Suvo applies it
When Cochrane has reviewed a supplement-related question, Suvo treats the review as a higher-confidence summary than isolated trials or marketing claims. It is especially useful when the question is not simply whether a compound exists, but how reliable the evidence is.
Limits
Cochrane does not cover every supplement or timing scenario. If no review exists, Suvo falls back to government, clinical, and database references and keeps the confidence of the rule appropriately narrow.
