MedlinePlus
Tier: Authoritative (U.S. government, consumer-facing)
What it is
MedlinePlus, maintained by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, publishes consumer-friendly summaries of drugs, herbs, and supplements.
Why we trust it
NLM writers work with clinicians and information specialists to translate peer-reviewed evidence into plain language. Updates are reviewed before publication.
What we use it for
Fallback source for drug-supplement interactions when DrugBank and DailyMed don't cover a case.
How Suvo applies it
MedlinePlus helps Suvo translate technical safety information into language that regular users can understand. It is useful for consumer-facing warnings, common medication classes, and supplement pages that need clear context without overstating certainty.
Limits
MedlinePlus is intentionally broad and consumer-oriented. Suvo does not use it as the only source for high-risk interactions when a more specific drug label, systematic review, or clinical reference is available.
